2018 Tournament Re-Cap

Play opened up on Saturday, August 4th, at three sites: Walford, Watkins  and Rock Island. After the first weekend of play, Calmar, Allison, Watkins, QC 76’ers, Stars and the Whiteside County Wildcats, would all bow out of the Tournament.  Of the three 2-0 teams left after Saturday’s play, Williamsburg would received the bye; in the game between the other two unbeaten teams, Walford would beat Norway in a one run game: 6-5. In game one on Saturday, August 11th, Red Top defeated the Muscatine Flames in a one run ballgame: 7-6.  In game two, Norway would ten run the Muscatine Roadrunners: 11-1.  Red Top and Norway continued their winning ways; in game three, Red Top would beat the undefeated Walford Hogs: 6-1.  Norway would come back from a 5-0 deficit to defeat Williamsburg: 8-7, sending four teams from the Iowa Valley League into play on Championship Sunday. On Sunday, game one saw Williamsburg come back late against Red Top to win by a score of: 5-3.  Walford would hold off Norway: 4-2 and set the stage for a Williamsburg v. Walford showdown. Williamsburg would win the 2018 IABA Championship: 10-0.
